France Galop has increased its support for Au-Dela Des Pistes [Beyond the Tracks], the industry-led initiative founded in 2016 for the retraining of racehorses. The governing body has committed €350,000 a year, to be distributed between ADDP and its existing partnership with the French League for the Protection of the Horse (LFPC), which has been rehoming racehorses deemed unsuitable for retraining for 12 years.

France Galop's support of ADDP up until now has been confined to giving over certain racedays for the charity's promotion, with former favourites including Cirrus Des Aigles, Solow and Kasbah Bliss involved in parades of champions, as well as demonstrations given by retrained thoroughbreds in their new vocations, such as dressage, polo and showjumping.

ADDP was founded by a coalition of major owners, breeders and other key players and, as well as organising competitions in various disciplines restricted to retrained racehorses – a key part of its fundraising and promotional strategy – the group has taken upon itself the role of vetting and accrediting suitable individuals and establishments to undertake the conversion work.
