Injured Melbourne Cup runner making excellent progress

Lindsay Park remain positive injured Melbourne Cup runner Rostropovich will successfully recover from a pelvic fracture suffered in the great race at Flemington on Tuesday. The David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained import dropped away on the home turn and was eased down before crossing the line as the last horse home.

Rostropovich was quickly attended to by on-course vets and transported to Werribee Equine Centre with a stress fracture to the pelvis. Lindsay Park are hopeful the five-year-old son of Frankel will make a full recovery and put out an update on Wednesday stating that the gelding was making 'excellent progress' and 'the outlook is very positive'.

Rostropovich will continue to be closely monitored in the coming days.
