Getting out and meeting participants will be a priority for Victoria’s Racing Integrity Commissioner, Sean Carroll, as he settles into his new role. Carroll has only been in the position since the start of this month, but has been forced to undertake a swift introduction with cases such as the abandoned Richard Laming case having Victoria’s racing integrity in the spotlight.

The former member of Victoria police and head of Cricket Australia’s integrity unit was at Flemington trackwork on Tuesday and will continue to visit licenced premises of all three codes as he strives to serve his charter to the Victorian Racing Industry. “Those that knew me from my cricket life would know that I’m not one to sit behind a desk that often,” he said on RSN92. “I’m really keen to get out to as many race meetings as I can, across the three codes.

“To get out to trackwork, get out to kennels, walk greyhounds with owners and speak to the participants that are in the codes and get a better understanding of their needs and engage with them to see what the culture is that they want to see within the sport.”
