Racing Victoria stewards are continuing an investigation into a positive swab taken from Jason Warren's galloper Bel Sonic after it had trialled at Werribee in May. Stewards reported on Tuesday that they had received a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) confirming a positive swab in a blood sample taken from Bel Sonic, which was brought to the Werribee Racecourse on May 28 to engage in an official trial for the purpose of obtaining a re-instatement to start in a race.

RASL reported that the sample contained Phenylbutazone, Oxyphenbutazone (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) and Triamcinolone Acetonide (a cortico steroid), which are prohibited substances in accordance with the Australian Rules of Racing.

On Saturday, July 7, RV stewards initially informed Warren of the irregularity and on Tuesday advised him of the confirmatory findings.
