The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) Safety & Integrity Alliance and the Racing Medication & Testing Consortium (RMTC) have announced that RegVetCE19, a two-day continuing education conference for regulatory and official racetrack veterinarians, will be held March 4-5, 2019, at Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino, in Hallandale Beach, Florida.

The one-of-kind-conference provides training and implements best practices directly related to the protection of the health and welfare of the racehorse. Topics expected to be covered at RegVetCE19 include:
  • Pharmacology for regulatory veterinarians;
  • Prerace examinations in the shedrow;
  • Out-of-competition integrity strategies;
  • Regulating therapeutic medications;
  • Official testing laboratory process and expectations;
  • The statistics of therapeutic thresholds development;
  • The great unknown: compounding, illegal new medications, misbranding, mislabeling, and adulterated substances; and
  • The global perspective: International and U.S. medication regulation
As was the case at the inaugural RegVetCE held in June at Keeneland Race Course, in Lexington, Kentucky, it is anticipated that veterinary continuing education credits will be offered by the Registry of Approved Continuing Education program of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards.
