The Emirates Racing Authority has an opening for a seasonal Regulatory Veterinarian

The Emirates Racing Authority based at Meydan Racecourse, Dubai has an opening for a Regulatory Veterinarian on a seasonal basis to cover the Thoroughbred and Arabian horse racing within the Emirates from October 2024 to April 2025.

Duties/responsibilities include:

  • Regulatory oversight at official trials and race meetings at the five racecourses within the UAE, Meydan, Jebel Ali, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in conjunction with Head of Equine Health and Welfare.
  • Coordinate race day and out of competition testing in line with Head of Integrity requirements.
  • Provide expert advice to the Head of Integrity and stewarding team as required. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update racing database

Qualifications and experience:

  • An internationally recognized Veterinary degree to be registered with the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment.
  • 10 years experience in equine practice, ideally racetrack practice.
  • Previous regulatory experience and knowledge of the Rules of Racing highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work within a multicultural team and on own initiative.
  • Excellent decision making under pressure.
  • Experience/knowledge of biosecurity, infectious diseases and disease control.
  • Experience in writing expert statements and providing evidence at inquiries and appeals.
  • Valid driving license to be registered in the UAE
  • As this is a seasonal position, accommodation and a vehicle will be provided as well as a competitive salary with the potential for the role to become a recurring position.
