The New Jersey Racing Commission is looking for an Equine Medical Director plus a Full Time and a Part Time Regulatory Veterinarians.
An opportunity currently exists in the unclassified service with the Department of Law & Public Safety, New Jersey Racing Commission, for applicants who meet the requirements specified below:
TITLE: Veterinarian 3 (Equine Medical Director)
SALARY: $98,268.16 to $140,353.06
LOCATIONS: New Jersey Racing Commission, Meadowlands Racetrack, 1 Racetrack Dive, East Rutherford, NJ 07073
AND Monmouth Park Racetrack, 175 Oceanport Avenue, Oceanport, NJ 07757
Travel to various Racetracks required for work responsibilities.
NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: One (1)
DUTIES: Under direction of the Assistant Director of Racing Operations, plans, organizes, and directs the development, coordination and implementation of racetrack safety and medication control programs; has primary responsibility for the coordination of pre-race examinations; oversees the collection of blood and urine samples from horses; does other related duties as required. This position may require non-traditional work hours, on an as needed basis, including evenings and/or weekends on short deadlines for certain assignments, with or without advance notice. REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited College of Veterinary Medicine approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) with a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or completion of the training program administered by the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) of the (AVMA), or the Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE) of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB), or achievement of diplomat status in any (AVMA) specialty board.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience in the field of veterinary medicine or animal disease control, one (1) year of which shall have involved supervisory responsibility or the training and assignment of subordinate staff.
LICENSE: Appointees must possess a passing grade, as determined by the test sponsor, on the National Board Exam and the Clinical Competency test or equivalent test, or passage of the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), or the Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE) of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB), or achievement of diplomat status in any (AVMA) specialty board. Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.
PREFERENCE: Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with horses.
